Manu Bhaker’s remarkable performance in Paris has set a new record for Indian sports. She is now the first Indian athlete post-independence to win two medals in a single Olympic Games, having already earned a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event earlier. This exceptional feat puts her alongside British-Indian athlete Norman Pritchard, who won two silver medals in the 1900 Olympics, albeit in the pre-Independence era.
